Better Breed Cameroon Launches the Sama Randy Storytelling Incubator Fellowship (SARSIF)Better Breed Cameroon is pleased to announce the launch of the Sama Randy Storytelling Incubator Fellowship (SARSIF), a transformative youth development initiative designed to empower the next generation of storytellers for social change in Cameroon.The fellowship marks the evolution of the Sama Randy Youth Write Contest, an initiative established in memory of the late Sama Randy,a founding member of Better Breed Cameroon, passionate writer, and youth leader whose commitment to empowering young people through writing continues to inspire the organisation’s work.
Recognising the growing need for young people to communicate ideas that inspire action, Better Breed Cameroon has redesigned the programme into a comprehensive storytelling incubator. Rather than focusing solely on creative writing, SARSIF equips participants with practical storytelling skills that can be applied to advocacy, civic engagement, community development, leadership, and the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The fellowship begins with a two-month virtual incubator, where selected fellows will participate in expert-led workshops, mentorship sessions, practical assignments, peer learning, and community-based storytelling exercises. Participants will learn how to identify pressing social issues, develop compelling narratives, and create stories capable of influencing attitudes, inspiring dialogue, and encouraging sustainable solutions.Following the incubator, fellows will compete in a one-month national storytelling competition, providing them with an opportunity to showcase the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the programme. Details of the competition will be announced separately.The inaugural cohort will admit 50 Cameroonians aged 18–35 years from across the country. The fellowship welcomes both English and French-speaking applicants who are passionate about using storytelling to create meaningful change within their communities.
Through SARSIF, Better Breed Cameroon reaffirms its commitment to investing in young people as leaders, changemakers, and advocates capable of shaping a more inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable Cameroon.
