On April 23rd, 2026, Better Breed Cameroon, in collaboration with Youth Connect Innovation Lab, hosted Read & Chill 2026 in Bamenda, bringing together over 30 young people aged 15–35 for an experience focused on reading, personal development, critical thinking, and youth leadership development in Cameroon.
Organized to commemorate World Book and Copyright Day, the event used reading as a tool to encourage young people to think critically, express themselves, and develop the confidence needed to become responsible citizens and future leaders.

A major highlight was an interactive discussion around Atomic Habits by James Clear, where participants explored how small daily actions, habits, and mindset shifts influence personal growth and long-term success.

The event also featured a public speaking masterclass facilitated by Randy King, where participants learned that effective communication goes beyond speaking, and requires confidence, intentional expression, listening, and connection.

Through a creative reflection by volunteer Mamu Heidi Dateh, participants were reminded of the importance of rest and self-care as part of sustainable growth.
More than a reading event, Read & Chill 2026 created a safe space for young people to engage in meaningful conversations, challenge ideas, and strengthen their leadership skills.
Through initiatives like this, Better Breed Cameroon continues to promote literacy, youth empowerment, and youth leadership development in Cameroon while contributing to SDGs 3, 4, and 16.

When young people read, reflect, and find their voices, they gain the power to transform themselves and their communities.
