Dear Younger Yaah Gladys Shang Viban,
Hello there! This is a peek into your life when you were younger- your hopes, your fears, your dreams, and your aspirations. I know It’s a bit strange writing to you, but I wanted to share some thoughts and feelings that I hope would guide you through your transformative years.
First of all, I want you to know that it’s okay to feel uncertain and overwhelmed by life. In fact, your life as a young teenage girl must have been a tumultuous ride filled with ups and downs, and most especially with feelings of inadequacy. I want you to know that every emotion you experienced was valid, and the struggles you faced today made you stronger in the long run.
My Dear younger me, As you navigate friendships, academics, and family expectations, be true to yourself. I know it’s easy to feel the pressure to fit in, to belong, to be liked; but the most beautiful thing you can do is embrace your unique qualities. You may not be a mannequin, or a fashion model, but that’s OK. Your beauty shines from the inside.
Don’t shy away from expressing your interests and passions, even if they seem different from those around you. The things that make you different are your greatest strengths.I know that there will be times you feel like you’re failing, or not good enough, but remember that failure is part of growing.
Each setback is an opportunity to learn, reflect, and to improve. Don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s all part of life. Try to celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. Do small things that make you happy. Also, please don’t forget that it’s perfectly fine to ask for help when you need it.Stay close to those who make you feel good about yourself. They will shape who you become tomorrow. Surround yourself with people who uplift you and support your dreams. Create wonderful memories! They will sustain you in your older years.
Take lots of pictures, enjoy little moments, and laugh as much as possible. These are going to be the best years of your life.Above all, keep an open mind – these are your years of exploration and experimentation. Life is full of unexpected paths and opportunities. Embrace the challenges that may come your way with an open heart and mind, and trust that your God will provide the resilience to handle whatever life throws at you.
I believe in you, and I know that you will grow into an amazing young woman. Keep shining your light, and don’t forget to enjoy the journey. You are capable of achieving great things in future, so chase your dreams fearlessly!
With all my love,The older you-Yaah Gladys Shang Viban
